Information requirements analysis
In our daily life, we require informations almost everytime from many kind of sources; from a ‘cheap’ information which cost very low, until ‘expensive’ information which require us to pay some amount of money. Sometimes ‘cheap’ or even free information such as information of current time has a high value, for example when we are doing our examinations. We want to know how many minutes that we still have to do the exam paper.
Another point is although the information is very cheap, sometimes we are difficult to obtain it. For example, when we forgot to bring our watch and our handphone that make us difficult to know the current time.
Likewise, sometimes ‘expensive’ information has a low value. For example, we are required to register for a certain course that we are not interested in. Although, the cost to obtain the knowledge of the subject is high, the value is low.
Therefore, the relationship between cost and value of information is not always the same. Some of the information cost low but the value is high, and vice versa depends on the kind of information, the situation, the corresponding person, etc.
